2025 NEWMF Presenters
Molly Quade graduated from Washington State University (WSU) in 2023 with a Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Education. During her undergraduate studies, she worked in the Hopkins Lab on a project in collaboration with Fungi Perfecti, investigating the role of Reishi mushroom extract in enhancing honey bee immune systems. This experience sparked her interest in mycology and insect-fungi relationships. Now a graduate student at WSU, Molly is researching the use of Metarhizium and other entomopathogenic fungi in honey bee Integrated Pest Management, focusing on developing fungal strains for Varroa mite management and examining additional hosts for these fungi. She aims to continue her research in mycology, with the long-term goal of advancing fungal applications in sustainable agriculture.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
The Inland Northwest Permaculture Guild along with other non-profit organizations are hosting the third annual Northeast Washington Mushroom Festival in Kettle Falls, WA on May 3, 2025.
SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
We have seen steady growth in the first two years of hosting this event with having over 40 vendors and 700 visitors. In 2025, we are expecting even more participation in the festival and we would love to make it better by implementing the great suggestions that we have received. We are excited to offer this event to the community and with big growth also comes the need for more help with expenses, volunteers and resources to host a successful event.
